Globalization

During my life I have only remarked the good sides of globalization. I have enjoyed watching how globalization has brought cultures closer together with all the vast resources that we have in our hands. Understand that I did not say make cultures more like each other but they (cultures) have been made much more accessible to more diverse parts of the world.
For example, this very moment I am listening to Arabic vocabulary from my iTunes account. I believe that having such easy access to such foreign information has never been quite so simple. I appreciate this kind of technology because it can lead to more understanding of cultures that we do not know. We can start to feel more connection and common ground as we are able to discover more and more about neighbors.
I noticed how aware we can all be of the world and what is happening outside of our personal sphere while spending some time in France. There were periods when we were being interviewed or filmed walking around the streets every day for an entire week because of the hype coming from Mitt Romney. I heard more about the American elections that were shortly coming than I did the French on the radios and from people we met in the streets. Although some people thought the church was sending us out to train us to be the future world leaders and many other false ideas the overall effect of globalization has been more interest in our neighbors and in a lot of cases more trying to understand them.
